This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Album review: Scatman Crothers - Groovin with ... Scatman

The name of Scatman Crothers probably means nothing to our younger readers and maybe the same applies to some of our older ones too. In truth, the name had also been off my radar for many years which, as he died in 1986 aged 76 is perhaps excusable except that, after listening to these tracks from 1976, I should have being singing/scatting his praises from the top of the Empire State!

He appeared in 46 movies, countless radio and TV shows and was eventually honoured with a star on the famed Hollywood Blvd. Walk of Fame.

As Benjamin Sherman Crothers' stage name implies, he could scat with the best of them and I really do mean the best!

Although the 8 tracks only run for just under 23 minutes every second is precious with some fine vibes from Victor Feldman to add to the delights.
