As one door shuts another one closes ...

Copenhagen's legendary Jazzhus Montmartre has permanently closed its doors due to the Corona-virus bringing to an end an era that saw many famous jazz superstars appear at the venue, whose commitment to jazz goes back to 1959, including Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Ben Webster and many others.

The sad details can be found on the Ronnie Scott's Club Facebook page - link.

Hard to imagine Copenhagen without the Montmartre . I still remember a fantastic nightistening to Dexter Gordon there backed by Kenny Drew,NHOP on bass and Alex Riel on drums. The interval band was led by another great tenorman-Brew Moore.

Sad indeed. Pleased that you mentioned Brew Moore. He's all but forgotten now but he was one of the best of the "Lestorians". I've got several of his albums and they're all great.
