This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazz Radio 3 Times

Following today’s edition of Jazz Record Requests (Radio 3, 4:00pm) Pan Jumby are featured on Jazz Line-Up (5:00pm). The band’s set was recorded on the concourse at Sage Gateshead during this year’s Gateshead International Jazz Festival. At midnight Geoffrey Smith’s Jazz surveys the work of Chet Baker as Born to be Blue is about to come to a screen near you – details in due course.
Monday’s In Tune (Radio 3, 4:30pm) comes from Edinburgh with a live set by pianist Ron Davis. At eleven in the evening, again on 3, Jazz Now includes a performance by Trio Red. Earlier in the day tune to Radio 4 (9:00am) to hear Playing the Skyline. Tim Marlow talks to Kathryn Tickell and Hannabiell Sanders and listens to their music.
Finally, Thursday’s BBC Proms 2016 concert (Radio 3) features Jamie Cullum with an emphasis on song. The piano-playing vocalist will be joined by the Heritage Orchestra and the Roundhouse Choir.
