This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. This Friday (June 17) at the Jazz Café - The In/Out Trio

Anyone who saw the celebration of Horace Silver’s music at The Jazz Café in February (7 Pieces of Silver) and The Blind Monk Trio last November will have seen the three excellent North West musicians making up the In/Out Trio: Stuart MacDonald, baritone and alto saxes from the former, and well known at clubs up and down the country for his fiery improv and rich tone; Paul Baxter (pictured), double bass and leader of 7 Pieces of Silver; and Johnny Hunter, drums, from Blind Monk Trio. All three are first call musicians on the Manchester scene and Johnny and Paul are the “engine room” for the Manchester Jazz Collective.
As the In/Out Trio they work acoustically exploring standards and contemporary classics in a highly intuitive, fluid and interactive style.
