This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Evening Chronicle/Pizza Express Competition.

Pizza Express on Dean St. - the other one in Newcastle - has had a promising response since it decided to emulate its famous Soho HQ and put jazz on the menu. After a seasonal break, the Pizzeria returns in February with gigs on Feb 10 and Feb 24. In conjunction with the Evening Chronicle they are promoting a competition which involves 'guessing' whether it will be The Paul Skerritt Band or The Lindsay Hannon Plus.
The prize is an incredible 3 course meal for 4 + a bottle of wine and 2 tickets for the Gateshead International Jazz Festival held at Sage Gateshead in April (15-17).
