When we walked through the door of the Cherry Tree last night we
thought it was the band from last Thursday @ the Lit & Phil. On closer
examination of course it wasn’t Lindsay Hannon Plus - it was them Minus
i.e. John Pope and Lindsay who were replaced by Anth and Paul! This was the
second visit of the Paul Skerritt Band to this venue. What a fantastic young male vocalist & his trio from Teesside.
Something new for Tyneside, till now the land has been ruled by young female vocalists.
King of the Swingers, Mack
the Knife & Play that Funky Music where just some of the numbers of note, gathered from the Frank S,
Michael B. and Paul Anka songbooks. One number I loved was Don’t Get Around
Much Any More. Attached: photocopy of my 2/- copy which I bought at Maxie
Shares in the 60s. One singer who covered the song was a Paul Skerritt
lookalike Tab Hunter (photo on copy)

ANSWER Tab Hunter.
James Harrison was on top form playing some incredible solos with
inventive phrasing and quotes. In my opinion he has gone straight to the top of
the pile of great piano players we have in the region. Considering the band has
only been together for a year they were extremely
polished and smooth and gave us a very entertaining evening. It was of course
helped along by the North Sea fish pie and
Black Sheep ale.
Next week at The Cherry Tree its Katherine Stone and her trio. They were
a big success at Ashington last week.
