Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Interested? then please get in touch. Contact details are on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you. Lance

Daryl Sherman Carrying Cole to Newcastle (Gateshead actually!)

Just a reminder that tickets are now on sale for our favourite songstress/pianist Daryl Sherman's concert at The Sage on Monday July 16. Featured will be numbers from her recent CD Mississippi Belle - a Cole Porter tribute I reviewed in January.
Daryl gave two cracking performances in 2010 at North Shields and Gosforth which I am sure all who attended remember vividly. On those occasions Digby Fairweather introduced Daryl as "The greatest living jazz singer" and I wouldn't dispute that! This time round John Hallam will be with her on sax and clarinet along with Roy Piercy on bass. What a night this is going to be so grab a ticket whilst you can.
Lance.
PS: On a further vocal note I understand that tickets for Cécile McLorin Salvant's Tribute to Billie (Holiday) Sage concert on Thursday Oct. 25 are going well so don't procrastinate over that one either. This concert is the curtain raiser for the Classic Jazz Party (Oct. 26-28) at the Village Hotel, Shiremoor. 206 of the 280 tickets have gone already so if you're planning on going book now rather than later.
Details here.
Lance.
