This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. R.I.P. Beryl Davis

Beryl Davis died Oct. 28 aged 87. A long time favourite of mine she made her first records at the age of 15 with Django and Stephane. During the Second World War she recorded many sides with Grappelli's Quintette, Miller's AEF Band and later with her father's band (Oscar Rabin and his Orchestra co-leader Harry Davis). After the war Beryl moved to the States where she had a successful career including a stint on the Hit Parade radio show with Frank Sinatra.
Here is Undecided one of the tracks recorded with the Hot Club. And in later years...
Sadly missed.

This version of "Undecided" is one of my son Kevin's top 6 fave recordings ever...he had no idea she was still alive, as you say lance.. RIP
