Bebop Spoken There

Dominick "Domo" Branch: ''Most people say drummers can't write, they're just time-keepers only beating on things. But I have a very musical brain.'' (DownBeat February, 2026)

The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) North. (M & SSBB on F/book 23/12/24)

Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Interested? then please get in touch. Contact details are on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you. Lance

Hong Kong to Hexham

Hope you all had a great summer, I did my normal trip to the UK, and
played The Jazz Real Ale Train, and did get a few surprises, here is
the youtube link for the train.
----- .
As for Neds if any of you were around last night, you would have
caught the US 7th Fleet Band at Neds, they have told me that some of
them hope to be down tonight after the show on the USS Boxer...
Cheers
Colin

Hey Colin - they've just discovered Ned Kelly's bones in Austrailia. Perhaps they could be put on display at your place then it really would be his 'last stand'

Is that Dave Kerr playing the Washboard I gave him to get a start in jazz in the 60s?

Did you give him the sweater as well?
