This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. In the Mood for Bitches Brew?


To celebrate the 40 years that have passed since the release of Miles Davis' Bitches Brew an American brewery - Dogfish Head Brewery - have produced an ale appropriately entitled Bitches Brew - read about it here.
I wondered idly if there were any British beers with a jazz connection and, lo and behold, last night the Bridge Hotel included In The Mood complete with a pic of Glenn in their impressive array of ales! Okay, some might say Glenn Miller wasn't 100% jazz whilst others might say the same about Miles Davis!
In fact, In the Mood was smooth and tasty - possibly brewed from the same sugar cane as clarinet reeds - like listening to Moonlight Serenade on a starry night. However, like Moonlight Serenade, too many plays/pints and it becomes a bit sacchariferous. It did sell well as by interval time they had none left.
Any more jazz related beers?
