Bebop Spoken There

Randy Brecker: "It's still a thrill for me today to stand out front of a big band as the soloist and hear all that sound going on behind you. It brings the best out of me" - (DownBeat June 2019).

The Applecake Question

Salivating over Dave Weisser's homemade applecake after the Xmas Party at the Chilli I posed the question - "Which British band recorded a tune called 'Applecake' with Monk on trombone?"
Well nobody got it right and very few even tried - perhaps I should have offered a prize such as the CD it is from.
Well I couldn't do that as I only have it as the B side of a single (a '78' at that!) although it is on Spotify. The A side was "Experiments With Mice" and the band, of course, was Johnny Dankworth. The Monk on trombone was in fact Laurie Monk and not the legendary Thelonious.
Lance.
