And the same to you Colin, Jeannie & the Guys in the Band. Keep us up to speed on the Hong Kong Hot Licks.
Hi Lance & All Fans Of Jazz In The North East..
There is something about that room, the band is right on top of the audience, and is a great room to play in, but not a place for a quiet conversation, we have a good following of young ex-pats and young Chinese, who when together go wild, and get so much into the music, on my trips to the Tyne it was so sad to see very few young people supporting the local jazz scene, I wonder what will happen in the future!!!!!!Ned Kelly's will have been opened for 38 years next year, and is the oldest pub in Hong Kong and the oldest Jazz venue in Asia, I'm sure my father would have loved it.
Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year in 2009, To All Jazz Fans In The North East.
Colin Aitchison (Bandleader)
Ned Kelly's Last Stand,
Kowloon, Hong Kong.
The paradox in the UK is that there are a lot of very fine young jazz musicians coming along but not very many young fans. Once it was older musicians playing to young fans who, in turn were inspired to take up instruments.
Now it is the elderly who are the audience.
As you say, I wonder what the future holds?
Hey - I'm only thirty three.
It's just all the worry!
Roly
