Mike Durham, director of July's Whitley Bay Jazz Festival informs me that they have now sold almost a third of the tickets, and almost all to people from outside the region, and that is with the full band line-up only just announced and before they mailshot their 1,000-plus mailing list.
He suggests, and wisely I think, that the local jazz fans might want to book ahead (or even now!) rather than turning up on the day, as many have done in past years - they may not be able to get in!
