Bebop Spoken There

Emma Rawicz: "In a couple of years I've gone from being a normal university student to suddenly being on international stages." DownBeat January 2026.

The Things They Say!

This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) North. (M & SSBB on F/book 23/12/24)

Reviewers wanted

Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Interested? then please get in touch. Contact details are on the blog. Look forward to hearing from you. Lance

Ronnie Scott’s celebrates 55th anniversary with live stream of Dianne Reeves main show & Takuya Kuroda Late Late Show on Thursday 30th October Sold-out Ronnie Scott’s at 55 all-star concert on Friday 31st October

With tickets to their sold out shows in such high demand, Ronnie Scott’s has decided to make a birthday gift to jazz fans the world over, by announcing the live streaming of soul-jazz super-star Dianne Reeves this Thursday at 8.30pm (GMT).  And as if that isn’t enough the club will also be streaming the Late show from rising Japanese trumpet-star and Blue Note recording artist Takuya Kuroda (a key member of Jose James band) at 11.30pm (GMT). Reeves will be performing material from her eagerly anticipated Concord Records release Beautiful Life, whereas Kuroda will perform material from his hip, funky and soulful Blue Note debut Rising Son.
What better way for the venerable club to celebrate it’s anniversary with live broadcasts featuring one of jazz’s greatest global stars and one of it’s fastest rising stars as Ronnie Scott’s proves once again to be at the cutting edge of both the music and new technology.
The live web stream follows Ronnie Scott’s highly successful debut live stream of jazz legend Wynton Marsalis last year, when a worldwide audience of over 25,000 tuned in.
But that isn’t all the party continues on Friday night with a sold-out Ronnie Scott’s at 55 all-star bash featuring firm club favourites Georgie Fame, Carlen Anderson, Guy Barker, Ian Shaw and of course Ronnie Scott’s very own piano maestro James Pearson,
Access to the broadcasts is free.
Viewers will simply need to log onto the club’s website www.ronniescotts.co.uk at 8.30pm and 11.30pm BST on Thursday October 30th
