This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Lost Weekend

Well now that the GIJF (was it the 8th or the 9th?) is over it's time to reflect on the coverage we've given this one - all I can say is that, in my opinion, it was AWESOME! Russell, Ann and myself covered just about every concert of note as well as ensuring that the Sage Bar and the bar staff at the Central were kept busy.
I think our coverage this year was second to none and we all deserve a pat on wherever it is we like to be patted!

There are some great pieces from GIJF in there. Nice sensitive writing about the circs Zoe Rahman was playing under. Look forward to hearing more about Olivia Moore. Etc

well as a non musician, but an avid music lover, I am proud to be associated with this Blog & endorse everything that has been said about Lance, he does do an amazing job, is passionate about live Jazz in the North East, not only reporting on it accurately ,but attending as many events as his otherwise crowded schedule allows, and from this small voice...well done!
