This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazz and Ale

Whilst the weather has called time - for the time being - on a number of jazz venues I thought it might be of interest to do a little research. I'm sure Russell will be delighted to co-ordinate our findings.
The subject is Jazz and Beer! Where can one find the best jazz and the best ale under the one roof?
The venues needn't be restricted to the North East as they could form the basis of an alcoholiday.

While I don't drink, I'm usually out with those who do, and I believe the following pubs in Glasgow do jazz and a good selection of beers and/or real ales:

Brel in the West End, smaller but good selection of beers, small group straight ahead improvised jazz.

The Three Judges in the West End, probably one of the best selections of real ales and ciders in the city, does traditional jazz on a Sunday afternoon.

Blackfriars in the Merchant City, usually has a good selection of guest ales and beers, and has various kinds of jazz, and other music.

The Beer Cafe in the Merchant City, has a very large selections of beers from across the world, and often has small groups playing, slightly more traditional music than Brel.
