This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazz Art

Paul Edis has drawn my attention to the work of Alistair Graham and his impressions - some may and have said 'grotesqueries' - of well known jazz musicians past and present. They are quite unique and worth studying at leisure.

Hi Lance

Two or three years ago an arts festival in County Durham saw an exhibition of Alistair Graham's jazz art in,of all places,a vacant shop unit at the then recently opened Dalton Park Outlet Shopping development in Murton.

I bought a copy of the book which inevitably sells at such events.You're right to describe them as grotesques.

I'm reminded of the fact that Gerry Richardson played an ''in shop'' gig during the exhibiton's run at this most unlikely location.
