This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Hi Lance & All Fans Of Jazz In The North East..

There is something about that room, the band is right on top of the audience, and is a great room to play in, but not a place for a quiet conversation, we have a good following of young ex-pats and young Chinese, who when together go wild, and get so much into the music, on my trips to the Tyne it was so sad to see very few young people supporting the local jazz scene, I wonder what will happen in the future!!!!!!Ned Kelly's will have been opened for 38 years next year, and is the oldest pub in Hong Kong and the oldest Jazz venue in Asia, I'm sure my father would have loved it.
