This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Preview: Classic Jazz Party 2024

Mike Durham's International Classic Jazz Party is almost upon us. This year's CJP, scheduled over the long weekend of November 1-3 at the Village Hotel, Cobalt Business Park on North Tyneside is completely sold out. Musicians will be flying in from all over the world, many festival attendees will be travelling from all four corners of the globe, and then there's the British contingent, all converging on NE27 0BY.

Focusing on the 'classic jazz' era (broadly 1910 to the dangerously modern 1940s), the level of musicianship is, as they say, 'something else'. Three days and nights of the very best in jazz, plus three late night jam sessions (finishing at silly o'clock), there's nothing quite like it!
