Reading in the i newspaper, under the above headline, I discover that the Department for Trade's Music Exports Growth Scheme has allocated £295,000 to artists to help fund projects across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
The scene, seemingly, supports small UK music companies by contributing to artists' marketing campaigns and promotional activity.
The breakdown shows thus:
Rock acts - 34%
Pop acts - 25%
Jazz & blues musicians 3%.
Total 62%.
So who's trousered the other 38%?
Significantly, rock and pop are classified as 'acts' whereas jazz and blues are 'musicians' which we knew all the time.
