I'm not really qualified to pass judgement on this debut solo album from a much travelled guitarist, born in London and now nesting in Scotland.
The influences are many, absorbing aspects of jazz, folk, rock and even choral music. Although played, I think, on a Gibson 335 the instrument could easily have been a classical guitar or even a lute. The sound, at times, seems more relevant to a harpsichord.
Throughout the feel is more baroque than rock or jazz - even on pieces by Peter Gabriel, Mark Knopfler or Huw Warren! That Garrett's managed to transform the disparate starting points into something original and far removed from the initial intent is to his credit. There are also a few of Garrett's own compositions plus a 16th century piece by Tallis.

It took me several playings before it got through to me that I was listening to something special. The essence is to throw away all preconceptions of jazz guitar indeed discard all preconceptions of anything - pour a glass of mead and enjoy.

Yes ukulele chords but they also need better experience.
