This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Bill Watson, trumpet player, band leader and organiser of the Sunderland Big Band Festival is one of the judges on tonight's BBC1 program - Frank Sinatra: Our Way.

I watched it ( of course) and there was no doubt of the winner, easily the best interpretation of Frank's style and ease, and a modest young man too.

I both agree and disagree Liz. The winner was, as you say, easily the best interpreter of Frank's (or rather Bublé's style) but I think that both you and the judges missed the point, the clue of which was in the title "Our Way". It was supposed to be their own take on Sinatra rather than a blatant copy so, basing that as the criteria, I thought the girl from Leeds who sang "I've Got You Under My Skin" won hands down.
