Although the prime aim of
Bebop Spoken Here is to focus on Jazz in the North East we do, nevertheless have a number of followers in other parts of the country - London in particular - and some of our bands do play gigs down there.
AVC (see posting below) and
Keith Stephen's Hot Club Trio being the most recent. So, when our 'Friends in the South' tell me about a gig, especially if it is a one I can relate to, then I try to mention it. whilst, at the same time pointing out that the
LondonJazz blog is the definitive source for jazz in the capital.
I first heard Alexander Stewart at the
Spice of Life last year and I was absolutely knocked out by his singing.
Alexander recently appeared at Ronnie's and you can check that gig out below. Also details of a forthcoming gig at a new venue in Streatham for those of you who are down that way.
Alexander Stewart - his debut at an exciting new jazz haunt south of the river, The Hideaway. Once again we are featuring saxophone star Nathaniel Facey with the group. At Hideaway, Stewart will perform with his pianist and musical director Alex Webb, acclaimed bassist Gary Crosby - recently made an OBE for services to jazz in the UK, Andy Chapman on drums and special guest Nathaniel Facey on alto sax.
