This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Newcastle on Sunday - who needs New York? (Bobby Darin reference)*

How's this for a super Sunday? Lunch at the Cherry Tree Restaurant in Jesmond where a pianist - probably Jack Cowan - provides a jazzy background to the superb cuisine. Take a leisurely stroll - or a bus or a Metro into 'The Toon' for the Jam Session at the Jazz Café. It kicks off mid-afternoon with Pete Gilligan on piano and a whole host of players queing up to jam. Around 7-7:30pm, take a leisurely stagger across to the Bridge Hotel where the Sunday evening Splinter @ the Bridge series commences its winter season of concerts. The Mark Williams Trio are this week's band. Indeed it is within the realms of possibilty that Mark could show at all three venues!
