This morning's Daily Express publishes its obituary of the late Pete King, former saxophone player and co-founder of Ronnie Scott's Club. It's a standard piece not unlike several others I've read. However, where this one differs is in its choice of photo.

I suppose it's the downside of the incredible ease of getting info. online now on any topic under the sun. Some reporter, with little knowledge or experience, is asked to do a write up, gets data via Google or Wikipedia and job done!
And editorial control is a joke. Oh dear! I remember our Billy Harper doing a gig somewhere in the region and the publicity bumf had a photo of Billy Harper the American tenor player. Bill found that very amusing. But you can't help but think in the good old 'old days' experienced 'old hands' got their facts right even though methods were slower and more laborious. Instant access, instant news, instant cock ups. Who cares - there's always tomorrow's news and todays is instantly forgotten.
