A dynamic group of musicians pushing the boundaries of contemporary jazz, seed. sit firmly at the very forefront of the flourishing London scene, combining influences from various musical traditions to create a unique sonic experience. Their upcoming collaboration with the LSO will present a specially curated programme featuring a mix of Kinoshi’s original compositions, plus Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 and Anna Clyne’s This Midnight Hour, all under the direction of esteemed conductor Ben Gernon (BBC Two’s Holst: The Planets with Professor Brian Cox, Channel 4’s Addicts’ Symphony).
Led by award-winning saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi, an alumna of the
LSO Panufnik Composers Scheme, seed. formed in 2016 and
released their debut album Driftglass via the Jazz
re:freshed label in 2019 before being nominated for a Mercury Prize the same
year, winning an Ivors Academy Award and receiving rave reviews (“heartfelt and

this year; a four-part suite for an 18-piece ensemble including musicians from
the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Soweto Kinch and Jess Gillam as well as other collaborations outside of the
capital’s annual jazz festival such as American hip hop group Cypress Hill and
British electronic musician Floating Points performing with master jazz
saxophonist Pharoah Sanders.
