This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Bone Idol Homecoming

Alexander Bone returns to the region in March to play two gigs with his Royal Academy of Music student friends at the Jazz Café, Newcastle and the Traveller’s Rest, Darlington.
The former pupil of Barnard Castle School won the inaugural BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year award in 2014 and went on to study at Chetham’s School of Music before his move to the capital to continue his studies.
The alto saxophonist made a guest appearance at last year’s Darlington Jazz Festival with Dean Stockdale and friends in the Quakerhouse pub. His appearance on BBC TV made a big impression on those who tuned in. Hearing him live is something else! Bone is due to appear on television again performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra playing the music from the soundtrack of Taxi Driver. The programme is scheduled to be broadcast at eight o’clock on 1st April. A better bet is to get along to the Jazz Café on Pink Lane on Friday 4th March to hear him for yourself. Suitably impressed, you can relive the experience the following evening at the Traveller’s Rest on West Auckland Road, Darlington.
