This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Jazz Café Chronicle

The duo gig on January 24 at the Jazz Café featuring Graham Hardy and Neil Harland has been rearranged and that date will now showcase Don Forbes (trumpet and flugel) and Alan Law (piano).
Start time is 9pm and admission is free.
Meanwhile, attractions at the Café this week are:
Tuesday January 13 – 8.00pm  Improvisers’ Workshop. Free Admission.
Free-improvisation jam session open to instrumentalists and vocalists from all musical backgrounds. Just bring your instrument and make it up!  Or come and listen. As of this month, sessions will be held in the Cafe’s upstairs venue. (Second Tuesdays.)

Friday January 16 – 8.00pm  DB Jazz Project £5.00 (£3.00 before 7.30pm)
The DB Jazz Project are relatively new on the North East Jazz scene. They aim to provide excitement and enjoyment, taking inspiration from film soundtracks, rock, and jazz classics. The music is a mix of their own original material and an eclectic mix of reimagined covers from Miles Davis to David Bowie.
