Have they changed the calender without telling me? They must have done for surely it is New Years Eve? Or so it seems in Barn Asia for Elaine Binney and the Jazz Rascals CD launch.
According to Elaine there are 150 people squeezed into the restaurant and she should know - her dad is on the door!
It's a fun night with the band stretching out on the CD tracks. People are drinking and dining and dancing - even I'm persuaded to shake a limb or two during Watermelon Man! This band is currently so hot they sizzle.
Well known north east guitarist Edd Carr say's he's never heard anything quite like it - stressing that he is speaking in complimentary tones!
I know what he means. The CD is great but live, even with the inevitable feedback and acoustic hiccups, it is something else again.
Elaine had promised us a surprise guest and we certainly did get a surprise! A scantily clad lady, I didn't catch her name, performing amazing things sitting on a hoop dangling from the ceiling! She sings, I think, Spread My Wings and indeed she spreads more than her wings in various evocotive poses!
