However, this wikipedia entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_John_Barry_Seven - says "The new line-up lasted until 1961 when Barry became too busy arranging and composing to continue. He installed Vic Flick as the leader and brought in Bobby Carr on trumpet to take his place. Carr was tragically murdered after only a year or so with the group and he was initially replaced by Dickie Hawdon" - as I said last night Lance, I think someone has it wrong! Unless there were two of Bobby Carr. I last did a gig with him in 1973'ish and he was larger than life then, as usual. Bring on the conspiracy theories.....
The guy on the photo certainly looked like the Bobby Carr we all knew and loved.
New to this site but interested to see the mention of Bobby Carr. I grew up with his son James who is still a good friend of mine. James says his Dad died in March 79 on the way back from a gig in Peterlee. If anyone has any reminisces or stories from those days, I know that James would be interested to hear them.
