This is a good opportunity to say thanks to BSH for their support of the jazz scene in the North East (and beyond) - it's no exaggeration to say that if it wasn't for them many, many fine musicians, bands and projects across a huge cross section of jazz wouldn't be getting reviewed at all, because we're in the "desolate"(!) Whilst BSH attempts to cover as many gigs, festivals and albums as possible, to make the site even more comprehensive we need more 'boots on the ground' to cover the albums seeking review - a large percentage of which never get heard - report on gigs or just to air your views on anything jazz related. Tonight @ the Globe - Ruth Lambert Quartet

Hopefully by now the runners in the GNR will have completed the course and gone home or to the pub thus making the roads and the Metro less congested and freeing the way for Ruth Lambert's many fans to make their way to the Globe.

As always, Ruth enthralls audiences with her immaculate conception of the GASbook and tonight, I'm sure, will be no exception but, time is ticking so don't hesitate - run if you have to. If several thousand can run to South Shields then 11 Railway St., should be a doddle if you start now. Lance

Ruth Lambert on vocals, Paul Grainger on double bass, Tim Johnston on drums, and Alan Law on piano; playing classic songs from the Great American Songbook, Brazilian bossa nova and a few originals.
Ruth Lambert is a talented and versatile jazz singer based in the north east of England who has established herself in recent years as one of the UK’s most classy and distinctive jazz vocalists. Balancing a voice of warmth and maturity with spark and charisma, Ruth is in her element whether fronting a big band or working with one or two other musicians to create a more intimate vibe.
