Our man in Kowloon, Colin Aitchison, sent me this bit of nostalgia - a program of a concert by the Dance Orchestra of H.M. Royal Air Force better known as The Squadronaires. Colin has also added some more vintage Melody Makers to his page.. Colin has also sent me a Harry Parry program from 1943 - go to Posters and Programmes (bottom of the page.) Lance.

Very interesting. Seeing this sent me to my vinyl collection to pick out an old mono 12" LP of the Squadronaires, with Blues In The Night, Five Minutes More, and My Blue Heaven as stand out tracks, and many of the band members on the program included - Ronnie Aldrich, George Chisholm, Tommy McQuater, Jimmy Miller. The album alternates Don Lusher for Eric Breeze as second trombone on some tracks, and the guitar is shared between Sid Colin and Bert Weedon. It doesn't quite swing as much as some of the Amercian bands of the time, but still worth a listen.
