Still have information to add, and some more photo's, as you no doubt know Ronnie McLean was my godfather, and Tommy was his brother-in-law, and the 3 of us all play trombone !!! it would be nice to have some memories on this blog from those who remember The Oxford, Don Smith, Ronnie Keene etc
My Dad played the trombone with Don Smith in the early 60s. His name was Derek Pilkington and his good friend Ken Bowers was on drums.
Photo album seems to have disappeared!
Link to album restored.
Dave, your Dad was my trombone teacher and my idol I remember going to your house in Whitley Bay on a Saturday morning for lessons. Along with Tommy who taught me at school they provided me with a full career in music and an enjoyment of Big Band music. I will forever be grateful to them both and will remember forever that rich Bolton accent with enormous fondness. Regards, Steve Humphrey
