Bebop Spoken There

Randy Brecker: "It's still a thrill for me today to stand out front of a big band as the soloist and hear all that sound going on behind you. It brings the best out of me" - (DownBeat June 2019).

RIP Keith Emerson

I must confess, I didn't know much about Keith Emerson until I heard him playing Honky Tonk Train Blues. I bought the 45rpm and found the B-side  Barrel House Shakedown even better.
Listen to him with Oscar Peterson doing that same Honky Tonk Train number.  Alright, OK, So Maybe, Oscar wins but it's a photo finish!
So sad to lose such a great musician in such circumstances.
The world will remember you, Keith, from Emerson, Lake and Palmer but I'll remember you for reviving an old Meade Lux Lewis tune. Maybe Meade would have dug it too...
RIP, sadly missed.
Obituary.
Lance.
