Legohead @ The Bridge Hotel, Newcastle.

Lloyd Wright (gtr), David Francis (dms), Jon Proud (bs).
Quite a night! Three guys at the top of their game. Whether it is jazz or jazz rock or just plain rock is open to debate but tonight's Splinter @ The Bridge session went down okay with me.

Guitarist Wright had more pedals at his feet than the Tour de France but, fortunately, he used them sparingly and effectively - at least for the first set.
The trio opened up with a boppy opus that gradually segued into a twelve bar before coming to a rocking finale.
The titles changed but the mood of funk and rock remained and, as the night wore on, it developed into a Jimi Hendricks meets Darkness melange.
Lloyd is one of the best guitarists around and he excels in this particular genre. Dave Cameron, sorry, Francis, delivered his percussion manifesto convincingly and with much aplomb - his drumming just gets better every time around.
On bass guitar, Jon Proud proved himself well-named as he did himself just that.
Proof tonight that the Jazz House has many many mansions. Encouraging, also, that the audience was predominately young.
Lance.
